Quarantine chronicled

When the ‘pandemic’ broke I was almost half way through Martin Gusinde’s ‘The Lost Tribes of Tierra Del Fuego’. Such a photographic monument of anthropology triggered an idea. To create a lasting visual record of life in captivity. I was intrigued … what is it people actually do when confined to their homes? Well in many cases they get creative; tell stories, break bread and pause. Friends and family shared their treasured quarantine moments and I sketched them out posting and sharing as a small momento. I titled the platform Happy Captives, which launched April 1st 2020 well before many other artists and celebrities caught on and began to develop similar concepts.

This project documented a highly idealised version of liberty detainment. With the benefit of hindsight and research I now view quarantine and any form of Government lockdowns as highly dangerous and do not support such measures.
